Auburn Follow Up

So I promised pictures of my most recent trip to AU and here the post that provides you with them.  I'll put them at the end.  In other news, I found out last Monday that I have another grant due at the beginning of December.  So that has been the craziness of my life this week along with editing a book chapter that I have to turn in before Thanksgiving.

I did however make time to hang out with a friend this past Thursday...we prepared beef stew and watched the original Wicker Man...very...interesting.  Last night was split between working, dining with one of my uncles at a tapas bar, and reorganizing my DVDs by genre and alphabetical orger (in an effort to find several "rented" DVDs).  Tonight I made lasagna using a modified version of Preppy Chemist, PhD's "family" recipe.  I made it extra meaty so hopefully the Double D will like it next weekend.  I also had extra noodles and some random stuff in the kitchen soooo...I made a veggie lasagna as well, which I'm freezing along with one of the meat lasagnas (yay 8x8 pans!).

As promised:

It was Homecoming last weekend so here's one of the "floats" that was displayed on campus.  Honors College represent!

Here's a shot of Tiger landing on the field during pregame.

And here's the band organized for the football team to run onto the field (it was also Senior Day).

And note our cool smoke special FXs...

Yea, the game was that good!

Tradition starts early on the Plains and in the Auburn Family.

The famous, charming, and illustrious Toomer's Corner.

Adventures of weekends past...

Alright, so a picture post will follow of beautiful AU, Toomer's Corner, and Jordon-Hare Stadium...but right now those pictures aren't uploaded...so here's some pictures from this past summer (rather my "vacation" that I took before I started my new job.

I spent a couple days at my grandfather's during my break and on one of our drives, we went past an old cemetery in the Tri-County area.

These were some of the taller tombstones.

Here's some old CSA graves.  According to a sign/memorial in the cemetery, over 100 CSA soldiers are buried here...the cemetery was VAST!

And I got a little creative with some of the photos....

I still have a couple of summer/fall activities that I can post about with pics...Dragon Con and the Atlanta Highland Games are two of these!

Sweet Home AU!

Alright, so even though Dick and I traveled extensively last weekend, it looks like I'll be making a return trip to Auburn this weekend.  It's homecoming and quite frankly there was a cheap enough ticket.  I'm hoping to link up with a few more friends this go around and ideally to relax.  It feels like I/we haven't had a relaxing weekend all semester.

Talked to the little sis this AM.  She's doing well and getting ready to come home for a bit before she heads to Ecuador.  She seems determined to make this be a happy time for me and I appreciate her efforts.  Thanksgiving should be an interesting Hamilton family affair much like last year...

New blog

Well here's the maiden voyage of my new blog...if anyone has suggestion for a new name, I'm interested.  The big news in my life lately, besides getting my PhD, moving to Atlanta, and starting a new job, is that I am engaged!  Also check out the sister blog to keep tabs on our wedding progress, it should be fun.

I'll try to update more than I have in the past so stay tuned!
